Novena for a Job – Day 7: Freedom from Anxiety

Join in praying the Novena for a Job to seek honest work, perseverance, and God's provision.

Today's Focus: Freedom from Anxiety

On this seventh day we pray for freedom from anxiety. Fear about money, reputation, and the future can devour prayer itself. We ask for the peace that lets us sleep while we search.

Prayer for Day 7

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father, your Son said, "Do not be anxious about tomorrow." We confess that we are anxious: about bills, about what people think, about a future we cannot see. We hand this fear to you.

Your peace is not the peace the world gives.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

Heavenly Father, free us from anxiety! Calm our nights. Steady our days. Let us do the next honest thing without rehearsing every disaster.

We also pray for these intentions… (State your need for work here)

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be

Jesus, I trust in you!

Reflection for Today

Today we pray for freedom from anxiety. Worry is not the same as prudence. Prudence plans. Anxiety loops. One is a virtue. The other is a wound that needs grace.

Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Unemployment attacks identity. We start to think we are only as good as our last title. That is a lie. You are a child of God first. A worker second. The order matters for peace.

If anxiety has become sleeplessness or despair, tell a priest, a friend, or a doctor. Prayer is not a substitute for help. It is the context in which help can be received.

Remember that Jesus slept in the boat. Trust is sometimes as simple as going to bed after you have done what you could, and leaving the wind to Him.

How to Make an Excellent Novena

Trust in God

Trust completely in God's ability to provide work in His time. Turn to Him with confidence in every interview, delay, and closed door.

Be Persistent

Pray this novena with persistence and keep looking for work. Prayer and effort belong together. God will not fail those who turn to Him with trust.

Be Specific

Present your specific need: a position, a just wage, a next interview, or the grace to stay in a hard job. God wants to help you with the particular difficulty you face.

Be Grateful

Thank God for skills you already have, for work you have done, and for daily bread so far. Gratitude opens the heart to receive more graces.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, free us from anxiety. Keep our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as we look for work. Give us sleep, and the peace the world cannot give. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.
