Novena for a Job – Day 5: Justice

Join in praying the Novena for a Job to seek honest work, perseverance, and God's provision.

Today's Focus: Justice

On this fifth day we pray for justice: honest hiring, a just wage, and workplaces that treat the worker as a person, not a tool.

Prayer for Day 5

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father, you are a God of justice who hears the cry of the laborer. You commanded that the worker is worthy of his hire. We ask for employment that does not cheat, and for the grace never to cheat in return.

Let justice roll down like waters in every place of work.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

Heavenly Father, establish justice! Protect us from exploitation. Convert those who hire and those who fire. Give us work we can do with a clean conscience.

We also pray for these intentions… (State your need for work here)

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be

St. Joseph, guardian of workers, pray for us!

Reflection for Today

Today we pray for justice in work. Catholic social teaching insists that a wage must suffice for a life of dignity, and that the worker is never a mere cost.

James 5:4 warns, "Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts." God is not neutral about unpaid or unjust labor.

Praying for a job does not mean praying for any job. Ask for work you can accept without lying, stealing, or harming the innocent. If you already work under injustice, ask for courage, prudence, and a way forward.

Pray also for those who hire: that they may see faces, not only numbers. A converted employer is an answer to this novena as much as a signed contract.

Remember that justice begins with us. Do not pad a résumé. Do not take credit that is not yours. The Father who provides also commands the eighth commandment.

How to Make an Excellent Novena

Trust in God

Trust completely in God's ability to provide work in His time. Turn to Him with confidence in every interview, delay, and closed door.

Be Persistent

Pray this novena with persistence and keep looking for work. Prayer and effort belong together. God will not fail those who turn to Him with trust.

Be Specific

Present your specific need: a position, a just wage, a next interview, or the grace to stay in a hard job. God wants to help you with the particular difficulty you face.

Be Grateful

Thank God for skills you already have, for work you have done, and for daily bread so far. Gratitude opens the heart to receive more graces.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, establish justice in our search and in every workplace. Give us employment we can hold with a clean conscience, and a wage that can feed those you have given us. Amen.
