Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us 2 Chronicles 32:19: “And he spoke against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, the works of the hands of men.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. 2 Chronicles is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
Today's invitation under the theme of Work & Service is simple and serious. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through 2 Chronicles 32:19. You said, “And he spoke against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
