Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Ezekiel 31:9: “For I made him beautiful and thick set with many branches: and all the trees of pleasure, that were in the paradise of God, envied him.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. In Ezekiel, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Ezekiel 31:9. As I listen to “For I made him beautiful and thick set with many branches: and all the trees of…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
