Theme: Daily Scripture
“Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will bring the sword upon thee: and cut off man and beast out of thee.”
Reflection for Today
Let Ezekiel 29:8 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will bring the sword upon thee: and cut off man and beast out of thee.”
In Ezekiel, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Ezekiel 29:8, let “Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will bring the sword upon thee: and cut…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
