Theme: Daily Scripture
“Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent out from Jerusalem to Babylon.”
Reflection for Today
Let Jeremiah 29:20 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent out from Jerusalem to Babylon.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. In Jeremiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Jeremiah 29:20 remain. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Jeremiah 29:20, let “Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
