Let Matthew 27:57 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And when it was evening, there came a certain rich man of Arimathea, named Joseph, who also himself was a disciple of Jesus.”
Matthew does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Matthew 27:57 remain. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Matthew 27:57. You said, “And when it was evening, there came a certain rich man of Arimathea, named Joseph,…” I do not want to rush past these words.
