Theme: Daily Scripture
“Then Jesus saith to him: Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Matthew 26:52: “Then Jesus saith to him: Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”
Matthew does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Matthew 26:52 close to me. Let “Then Jesus saith to him: Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
