Catholic Verse of the Day

2 Kings 24:4

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, April 1, 2029, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

And for the innocent blood that he shed, filling Jerusalem with innocent blood: and therefore the Lord would not be appeased.

2 Kings 24:4

Reflection for Today

Pause with 2 Kings 24:4. Hear these words again: “And for the innocent blood that he shed, filling Jerusalem with innocent blood: and therefore the Lord would not be appeased.”

The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. 2 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 2 Kings 24:4 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through 2 Kings 24:4. You said, “And for the innocent blood that he shed, filling Jerusalem with innocent blood: and…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
