Theme: Work & Service
“And they saw the God of Israel: and under his feet as it were a work of sapphire stone, and as the heaven, when clear.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Exodus 24:10. Hear these words again: “And they saw the God of Israel: and under his feet as it were a work of sapphire stone, and as the heaven, when clear.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. Exodus is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
Today's invitation under the theme of Work & Service is simple and serious. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Exodus 24:10 I hear, “And they saw the God of Israel: and under his feet as it were a work of sapphire…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
