Let Leviticus 24:7 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And thou shalt put upon them the clearest frankincense, that the bread may be for a memorial of the oblation of the Lord.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. Leviticus is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Leviticus 24:7. As I listen to “And thou shalt put upon them the clearest frankincense, that the bread may be for a…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
