Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 Chronicles 23:25. Hear these words again: “For David said: The Lord the God of Israel hath given rest to his people, and a habitation in Jerusalem for ever.”
1 Chronicles is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep 1 Chronicles 23:25 close to me. Let “For David said: The Lord the God of Israel hath given rest to his people, and a…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
