Theme: Daily Scripture
“A mamzer, that is to say, one born of a prostitute, shall not enter into the church of the Lord, until the tenth generation.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Deuteronomy 23:2: “A mamzer, that is to say, one born of a prostitute, shall not enter into the church of the Lord, until the tenth generation.”
Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Deuteronomy 23:2, let “A mamzer, that is to say, one born of a prostitute, shall not enter into the church…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
