The Church sets before us Joshua 23:10: “One of you shall chase a thousand men of the enemies: because the Lord your God himself will fight for you, as he hath promised.”
Joshua is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
