Theme: Daily Scripture
“And when the Lord had met him, and had put the word in his mouth, he said: Return to Balac, and thus shalt thou say to him.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Numbers 23:16: “And when the Lord had met him, and had put the word in his mouth, he said: Return to Balac, and thus shalt thou say to him.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Numbers is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Numbers 23:16. As I listen to “And when the Lord had met him, and had put the word in his mouth, he said: Return to…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
