Theme: Daily Scripture
“Shall thy heart endure, or shall thy hands prevail in the days which I will bring upon thee: I the Lord have spoken, and will do it.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Ezekiel 22:14: “Shall thy heart endure, or shall thy hands prevail in the days which I will bring upon thee: I the Lord have spoken, and will do it.”
In Ezekiel, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Ezekiel 22:14 I hear, “Shall thy heart endure, or shall thy hands prevail in the days which I will bring…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
