Catholic Verse of the Day

Job 20:23

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Tuesday, January 2, 2029, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

May his belly be filled, that God may send forth the wrath of his indignation upon him, and rain down his war upon him.

Job 20:23

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Job 20:23: “May his belly be filled, that God may send forth the wrath of his indignation upon him, and rain down his war upon him.”

A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Job belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through Job 20:23. You said, “May his belly be filled, that God may send forth the wrath of his indignation upon…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
