Theme: Prayer
“And Juda gathered themselves together to pray to the Lord: and all came out of their cities to make supplication to him.”
Reflection for Today
Let 2 Chronicles 20:4 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And Juda gathered themselves together to pray to the Lord: and all came out of their cities to make supplication to him.”
We often wait to feel holy before we pray. Scripture gently reverses that: we pray, and holiness begins to find us. 2 Chronicles is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 2 Chronicles 20:4 remain. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 2 Chronicles 20:4 I hear, “And Juda gathered themselves together to pray to the Lord: and all came out of their…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
