1 Chronicles 20:4

Reflection for Today

Let 1 Chronicles 20:4 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “After this there arose a war at Gazer against the Philistines: in which Sabachai the Husathite slew Saphai of the race of Raphaim, and humbled them.”

1 Chronicles is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 1 Chronicles 20:4, let “After this there arose a war at Gazer against the Philistines: in which Sabachai the…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
