Theme: Family
“And as he lingered, they took his hand, and the hand of his wife, and of his two daughters, because the Lord spared him.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Genesis 19:16. Hear these words again: “And as he lingered, they took his hand, and the hand of his wife, and of his two daughters, because the Lord spared him.”
Genesis is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Genesis 19:16. As I listen to “And as he lingered, they took his hand, and the hand of his wife, and of his two…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
