The Church sets before us Matthew 18:21: “Then came Peter unto him and said: Lord, how often shall my brother offend against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?”
Matthew does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Matthew 18:21. As I listen to “Then came Peter unto him and said: Lord, how often shall my brother offend against…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
