In Ezekiel, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Ezekiel 18:23. As I listen to “Is it my will that a sinner should die, saith the Lord God, and not that he should…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
