Catholic Verse of the Day

Ezekiel 17:19

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Monday, October 23, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Therefore thus saith the Lord God: As I live, I will lay upon his head the oath he hath despised, and the covenant he hath broken.

Ezekiel 17:19

Reflection for Today

Pause with Ezekiel 17:19. Hear these words again: “Therefore thus saith the Lord God: As I live, I will lay upon his head the oath he hath despised, and the covenant he hath broken.”

The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. In Ezekiel, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Ezekiel 17:19 I hear, “Therefore thus saith the Lord God: As I live, I will lay upon his head the oath he…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
