Theme: Peace
“And I will bring back all the people, as if they were but one man: for thou seekest but one man: and all the people shall be in peace.”
Reflection for Today
Let 2 Samuel 17:3 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And I will bring back all the people, as if they were but one man: for thou seekest but one man: and all the people shall be in peace.”
Many of us carry quiet fear into work, family, and prayer. This verse does not shame that fear. It invites us to bring it into the light of God. 2 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 2 Samuel 17:3 remain. Name your loudest fear before God without editing it. Then ask for the peace of Christ, not the peace of perfect control.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 2 Samuel 17:3. As I listen to “And I will bring back all the people, as if they were but one man: for thou seekest…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
