Theme: Salvation
“And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for it is his battle, and he will deliver you into our hands.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 Samuel 17:47. Hear these words again: “And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for it is his battle, and he will deliver you into our hands.”
1 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 1 Samuel 17:47, let “And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
