Theme: Trust & Providence
“For I will not see you now by the way: for I trust that I shall abide with you some time, if the Lord permit.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 Corinthians 16:7. Hear these words again: “For I will not see you now by the way: for I trust that I shall abide with you some time, if the Lord permit.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. 1 Corinthians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 1 Corinthians 16:7. As I listen to “For I will not see you now by the way: for I trust that I shall abide with you some…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
