Theme: Work & Service
“And they blasphemed the God of heaven, because of their pains and wounds: and did not penance for their works.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Revelation 16:11: “And they blasphemed the God of heaven, because of their pains and wounds: and did not penance for their works.”
Revelation is often treated as a puzzle of fear. Catholic faith reads it as a book of worship and hope: the Lamb reigns, and history is not abandoned. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Revelation 16:11 remain. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Revelation 16:11. As I listen to “And they blasphemed the God of heaven, because of their pains and wounds: and did…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
