They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doth a service to God.

John 16:2

Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is John 16:2: “They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doth a service to God.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. The Church treasures John because the Gospel is the face of Christ in human language, meant to be heard with faith.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep John 16:2 close to me. Let “They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
