Theme: Work & Service
“Wherein shall I cleanse thy heart, saith Lord God: seeing thou dost all these the works of a shameless prostitute?”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Ezekiel 16:30. Hear these words again: “Wherein shall I cleanse thy heart, saith Lord God: seeing thou dost all these the works of a shameless prostitute?”
In Ezekiel, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
Today's invitation under the theme of Work & Service is simple and serious. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Ezekiel 16:30. As I listen to “Wherein shall I cleanse thy heart, saith Lord God: seeing thou dost all these the…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
