Catholic Verse of the Day

1 Kings 16:33

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, September 10, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

And he planted a grove: and Achab did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel, than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

1 Kings 16:33

Reflection for Today

Let 1 Kings 16:33 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And he planted a grove: and Achab did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel, than all the kings of Israel that were before him.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 1 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.

Prayer

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 1 Kings 16:33. As I listen to “And he planted a grove: and Achab did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel,…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
