Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us 1 Maccabees 13:40: “And if any of you be fit to be enrolled among ours, let them be enrolled, and let there be peace between us.”
Peace is one of the first things anxiety steals. Christ does not deny our storms; He offers a peace that can remain even while the waves are still high. 1 Maccabees, received in the Catholic canon, shows courage, fidelity, and providence when God's people are tested.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep 1 Maccabees 13:40 close to me. Let “And if any of you be fit to be enrolled among ours, let them be enrolled, and let…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
