Theme: Daily Scripture
“And there shall be in all the earth, saith the Lord, two parts in it shall be scattered, and shall perish: but the third part shall be left therein.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Zechariah 13:8: “And there shall be in all the earth, saith the Lord, two parts in it shall be scattered, and shall perish: but the third part shall be left therein.”
In Zechariah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Zechariah 13:8, let “And there shall be in all the earth, saith the Lord, two parts in it shall be…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
