Theme: Daily Scripture
“But the money for trespass, and the money for sins, they brought not into the temple of the Lord, because it was for the priests.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 2 Kings 12:16. Hear these words again: “But the money for trespass, and the money for sins, they brought not into the temple of the Lord, because it was for the priests.”
2 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 2 Kings 12:16. As I listen to “But the money for trespass, and the money for sins, they brought not into the temple…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
