Catholic Verse of the Day

1 Corinthians 11:29

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Thursday, March 30, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 11:29

Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is 1 Corinthians 11:29: “For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 1 Corinthians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through 1 Corinthians 11:29. You said, “For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily eateth and drinketh judgment to himself,…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
