They shall walk after the Lord, he shall roar as a lion: because he shall roar, and the children of the sea shall fear.

Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is Hosea 11:10: “They shall walk after the Lord, he shall roar as a lion: because he shall roar, and the children of the sea shall fear.”

In Hosea, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. Peace is one of the first things anxiety steals. Christ does not deny our storms; He offers a peace that can remain even while the waves are still high.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Hosea 11:10 I hear, “They shall walk after the Lord, he shall roar as a lion: because he shall roar, and…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
