Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us 1 Samuel 10:22: “And after this they consulted the Lord whether he would come thither. And the Lord answered: Behold he is hidden at home.”
1 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 1 Samuel 10:22, let “And after this they consulted the Lord whether he would come thither. And the Lord…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
