Theme: Daily Scripture
“And all their kings, and their lands he took and wasted at one onset: for the Lord the God of Israel fought for him.”
Reflection for Today
Let Joshua 10:42 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And all their kings, and their lands he took and wasted at one onset: for the Lord the God of Israel fought for him.”
Joshua is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Joshua 10:42 I hear, “And all their kings, and their lands he took and wasted at one onset: for the Lord…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
