Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Thursday, January 6, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Family

FamilyGratitude

Whose are the fathers and of whom is Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all things, God blessed for ever. Amen.

Romans 9:5

Reflection for Today

Let Romans 9:5 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Whose are the fathers and of whom is Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all things, God blessed for ever. Amen.”

Romans comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Romans 9:5 remain. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Romans 9:5 I hear, “Whose are the fathers and of whom is Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
