Catholic Verse of the Day

Acts 9:22

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Wednesday, January 5, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Strength

Strength

But Saul increased much more in strength and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, affirming that this is the Christ.

Acts 9:22

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Acts 9:22: “But Saul increased much more in strength and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, affirming that this is the Christ.”

The Acts of the Apostles remind us that the Church is not a museum of holy memories. It is a living community moved by the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning. True strength in Scripture is often quiet. It is the courage to remain faithful when quitting would be easier.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Acts 9:22 I hear, “But Saul increased much more in strength and confounded the Jews who dwelt at…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
