Catholic Verse of the Day

Luke 9:58

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Monday, January 3, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Jesus said to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests: but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Luke 9:58

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Luke 9:58: “Jesus said to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests: but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”

A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Luke does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Luke 9:58, let “Jesus said to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests: but the Son…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
