Catholic Verse of the Day

Mark 9:14

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, January 2, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Peace

And presently all the people, seeing Jesus, were astonished and struck with fear: and running to him, they saluted him.

Mark 9:14

Reflection for Today

Pause with Mark 9:14. Hear these words again: “And presently all the people, seeing Jesus, were astonished and struck with fear: and running to him, they saluted him.”

Many of us carry quiet fear into work, family, and prayer. This verse does not shame that fear. It invites us to bring it into the light of God. Mark does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Mark 9:14 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through Mark 9:14. You said, “And presently all the people, seeing Jesus, were astonished and struck with fear:…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
