Catholic Verse of the Day

Matthew 9:27

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Saturday, January 1, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Mercy

Forgiveness & Mercy

And as Jesus passed from thence, there followed him two blind men crying out and saying, Have mercy on us, O Son of David.

Matthew 9:27

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Matthew 9:27: “And as Jesus passed from thence, there followed him two blind men crying out and saying, Have mercy on us, O Son of David.”

Mercy is the place where Catholic life becomes most concrete: Confession, patience at home, and the decision not to keep score forever. Matthew does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer.

Today's invitation under the theme of Mercy is simple and serious. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through Matthew 9:27. You said, “And as Jesus passed from thence, there followed him two blind men crying out and…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
