Catholic Verse of the Day

Amos 9:12

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Tuesday, December 28, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all nations, because my name is invoked upon them: saith the Lord that doth these things.

Amos 9:12

Reflection for Today

Pause with Amos 9:12. Hear these words again: “That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all nations, because my name is invoked upon them: saith the Lord that doth these things.”

The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. In Amos, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Amos 9:12 remain. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Amos 9:12 I hear, “That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all nations, because my name is…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
