Catholic Verse of the Day

Hosea 9:3

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Monday, December 27, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

They shall not dwell in the Lord's land: Ephraim is returned to Egypt, and hath eaten unclean things among the Assyrians.

Hosea 9:3

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Hosea 9:3: “They shall not dwell in the Lord's land: Ephraim is returned to Egypt, and hath eaten unclean things among the Assyrians.”

In Hosea, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Hosea 9:3. As I listen to “They shall not dwell in the Lord's land: Ephraim is returned to Egypt, and hath…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
