Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Zechariah 9:4: “Behold the Lord shall possess her, and shall strike her strength in the sea, and she shall be devoured with fire.”
In Zechariah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. True strength in Scripture is often quiet. It is the courage to remain faithful when quitting would be easier.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Zechariah 9:4, let “Behold the Lord shall possess her, and shall strike her strength in the sea, and she…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
