Theme: Daily Scripture
“And let the thought of God be in thy mind, and all thy discourse on the commandments of the Highest.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Sirach 9:23: “And let the thought of God be in thy mind, and all thy discourse on the commandments of the Highest.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Sirach belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Sirach 9:23. As I listen to “And let the thought of God be in thy mind, and all thy discourse on the commandments…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
