Theme: Daily Scripture
“And the Lord shall destroy out of Israel the head and the tail, him that bendeth down, and him that holdeth back, in one day.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Isaiah 9:14: “And the Lord shall destroy out of Israel the head and the tail, him that bendeth down, and him that holdeth back, in one day.”
In Isaiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Isaiah 9:14 close to me. Let “And the Lord shall destroy out of Israel the head and the tail, him that bendeth…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
