Theme: Daily Scripture
“And behold the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision which I had seen in the plain.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Ezekiel 8:4. Hear these words again: “And behold the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision which I had seen in the plain.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. In Ezekiel, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Ezekiel 8:4 remain. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Ezekiel 8:4 I hear, “And behold the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision which I…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
