Theme: Daily Scripture
“We will go three days' journey into the wilderness; and we will sacrifice to the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Exodus 8:27: “We will go three days' journey into the wilderness; and we will sacrifice to the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Exodus is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Exodus 8:27. As I listen to “We will go three days' journey into the wilderness; and we will sacrifice to the…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
