Theme: Daily Scripture
“And Noe built an altar unto the Lord: and taking of all cattle and fowls that were clean, offered holocausts upon the altar.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Genesis 8:20: “And Noe built an altar unto the Lord: and taking of all cattle and fowls that were clean, offered holocausts upon the altar.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Genesis is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Genesis 8:20, let “And Noe built an altar unto the Lord: and taking of all cattle and fowls that were…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
